This stretch of coast in Wakulla County is designated as a critically eroded beach by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and has been battered by several hurricanes and strong storms over the years. All coastlines change over time... the remnants of these long-dead pines help show just how much this beach has endured. This shot was taken during an extreme low tide thanks to a strong NE wind; these mud flats are typically submerged.
